Ornament making - Project #1 complete!




Okay so first of, I don't sew....like....at all. At least not very well So for me to make an ornament at all is kinda a big thing.  But I wanted to try something new and well....with the Stitching Pirate's Ornament Exchange, it's the perfect opportunity to try it out.

However, this ornament is NOT for that exchange! Well.....not any more. ;)  I was going to keep it for that but Thomas and I are going to a wedding this weekend and I had already talked to Jennifer (Thomas' cousin) and she said she would love an ornament when I asked.  I plan on making a few of these to give out as quick Christmas gifts, but didn't want to give them out to someone (non-immediate family member) who might now like/appreciate them so I asked first.

She was ecstatic that I would make something for her so I attempted to finish it before we left.  If we had gotten on an earlier flight I would have just finished it on the plane or while we were waiting for a connecting flight, but there wasn't so I was able to finish it at home.

Took me....oh.... days or so to actually finish up since I wasn't working on it all the time.

Day 1: Finished cross-stitch and start of dark green diamond eyelet stitch


























Day 2: Finish dark green diamond eyelet stitch















Day 3: Finished plaited stitch inside, finished light gold diagonal satin stitch, finished dark gold diagonal satin stitch























Day 4: Finished light green diamond satin stitch, start of light gold satin stitch

















Day 5: Finished light gold satin stitch, finished beads, and back-stitching, cut pattern from large fabric. Used blue wash away pen to mark even distance around pattern and trimmed fabric, set pattern on felt to see how it looks the sew pattern and felt together (after trimming felt).













Day 6: sew gold rope embellishment/hanger

Okay so today's little blog is actually NOT all about stitching, or really even my current WIP as I'm sure you can tell by the title. Let me start this out by explaining a few things.  About a month or so ago Thomas and I went to Kenny's apartment for dinner.  Kenny is one of Thomas's old West Point roommates, a good friend, and one of his classmates at this Captain's Career Course. He lives in the same apartment complex as we do, just a few buildings over.  We periodically switch around who hosts dinner, usually on the weekends, since Kenny lives by himself but still likes to cook and it's frustrating to cook for only one person. I like to cook as well and we both like to cook for other people so....thus the current arrangement. Well Kenny made homemade pasta that night for dinner and it was AMAZING! WIPocalypse 2014 - January

So....I'm a little late in this post as it's not Jan 16th but....I kinda forgot about it.  Oh well, better late than never right? ^_^ So the topic for this month is to introduce ourselves, my projects, and my goals for the year so here it goes! Hi!! My name is Krystal.  I'm 27, live in Texas and am married to the best guy in the world! Okay...I'm slightly biased.  Thomas, my husband, and I have been together since high school, that's oh.....11 years now and we have been married for 2 although not without some difficulty. Thomas was my brother's friend in HS through scouts, lacrosse, and all three of us were in band together - Thomas played percussion, I played flute, and Jason was a base/alto clarinet player. Oh! July 4th weekend...

First off let me say that I got practically no stitching done over the holiday weekend and I'm okay with that. ^_^ 7-4 work - Red bow and start of blue present Got to spend Friday and Sat with the in-laws and Sunday with my family.  Jason and Sarah brought Emma for the family get together so I was supper excited to finally get to see and hold her.  She was sleeping when they arrived and I got to hold her. She's a cuddle bug! She was completely content to sleep on my chest all curled up. Emma snuggles Not the best picture quality because I was taking the selfie with my phone.  Which is another thing Thomas and I did over the break, get new phones! We both got the Samsung Galaxy s5, his is black and mine is white, and actually the camera takes much better pictures it was just hard for me to do with one hand. lol Isn't she adorable?  I know, I'm slightly biased.  I was also asked to be her Godmother!!
